Senior Center Celebrates National Pie Day

Folks were induldging their sweet tooths for a good cause in Bangor Friday. For the second year in a row the Hammond Street Senior Center celebrated National Pie Day with an “Enjoy a Slice” pie brunch.Members made the pies and even some homemade ice cream to go on top.Organizers say there was a little something for everyone.” Anywhere from custard pie right on up to pecan, pumpkin, squash, blueberry, three berry pie, so pretty much, ya know, cream pies. Everybody seems to enjoy it,” said Virginia Greene with the Hammond Street Senior Center. The pie party is a fundraiser for the center. A slice of pie and a cup of tea cost just $2 and if you wanted to add a scoop of ice cream, it was just a dollar more.Organizers hope to make the sweet fundraiser an annual event.
