Hampden Academy Cheering Hoping to Continue Their Impressive Season

The Eastern Maine finals in high school cheerleading are this Saturday. Classes B, C and D are in Bangor. The Class A final is in Augusta. One surprise team this year in Class A is Hampden Academy. The Broncos finished second in conference and as Prescott Rossi tells us, they are looking to surprise even more people this weekend.***With Eastern Maines just a few days away the Hampden Academy cheerleaders are out to prove that their 2nd place finish in conference was no fluke.Lauren Lee – Hampden Senior”We didn’t expect to get 2nd in KVAC’s but it was a huge deal to us. Now we have more pressure and we have to push each other more and it gives us more confidence.”Their routine will have to be fine tuned and improved if they wanna beat high profile teams like Lewiston and Bangor.Bryce Arsenault – Hampden Junior”Everyone is practicing and pushing themselves harder like someone just got a tuck that they didn’t have before.”Part of their motivation comes from their success, something Hampden cheering isn’t used to.Kara Day – Hampden Junior”It makes us proud to say that we accomplished something that no team here has done before. It makes us more confident that we can perform and better as a team.”They hope that more success will make people talk about the cheering team on the same level as the schools other athletic programs.”People are focused on basketball football baseball but they don’t really see cheering we are just the team cheering for basketball on the side they don’t really notice what we accomplish at competitions I’m hoping this year that people notice us and come support us.”
