Dunlap Named Interim Executive Director of Sportsmen Group

Maine’s largest sportsmen’s group has named former Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap as its interim executive director. The Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine named Dunlap to replace Tim Bell, who took over last October after longtime director George Smith stepped down. Dunlap says that the alliance’s board felt a change in leadership was necessary toachieve it goals. Board President Jim Gorman said Dunlap brings instant credibility among lawmakers and the public. Dunlap is a former alliance board member and served four terms in the Legislature before his stint as secretary of state from 2005 through last year. The 14,000-member organization represents the interests of Maine hunters, anglers and other outdoor enthusiasts to the public and lawmakers. (AP)
