Granted-Funded Program Helps To Prepare 

A new grant-funded program is focusing on emergency preparedness within long-term care facilities, home health agencies, and hospice organizations.The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provided the funding, which is being used through the Eastern Maine Healthcare System.More than 120 people attended a conference Monday at Spectacular Events Center in Bangor.Community partners and participants from 9 counties in Maine were there to speak with a team of experts and emergency responders to learn more about what do in the case of environmental or biological disaster.Attendees also took part in a table-top evacuation drill and heard first hand stories of local evacuations.Organizers of the event say Senator Susan Collins was instrumental in getting the funding for this program.
