Governor LePage has announced his nominees for three more posts in his administration. LePage has asked Mary Mayhew to head up the Department of Health and Human Services.Mayhew was added to LePage’s team as a senior advisor on healthcare issues earlier this month.She takes over a department that the Governor says has received thousands of complaints, many related to welfare fraud.The Governor says he expects to have Deputy Comissioners appointed to help in the restructuring of the welfare system. “We are not looking to throw anyone to the curb. We are trying to to make sure we provide the services that they need with one little caveat. We are going to work very hard at getting people to become self reliant,” LePage said at a press conference announcing the nominations.The Governor also nominated dairy farmer and former lawmaker Walt Whitcomb to head up the Department of Agriculture and, LePage has picked Paul Sighinolfi to be the Executive Director of the Maine Workers Compensation Board.Sighinolfi heads the workers compensation group at the Bangor law firm Rudman & Winchell.
