Nurses Union Files Second Complaint Against EMMC 

A complaint has been filed against Bangor’s largest hospital.The Maine State Nurses Association filed an unfair labor practice complaint against Eastern Maine Medical Center saying management representatives at the hospital have been attempting to intimidate nurses who participate in activities to advocate for their patients.Greg Howat, Vice President of Human Resources at EMMC, says management expects and encourages nurses to advocate for their patients. He also says the complaint filed is very vague and management will wait to respond until the union explains in details the issue Howat tells TV5 there could be hearing over this complaint.This is the second charge filed with the National Labor Relations Board by the nurses union against EMMC. The first one was regarding interfering with the bargaining process and is currently under investigation.Nurses have been in negotiations with hospital management since August.The two groups head back to the bargaining table on January 31st.
