UMaine Presents MLK ‘Diversity Day’ at Bangor Mall 

The University of Maine held Martin Luther King Diversity Day at the Bangor Mall Monday afternoon.Students in grades 3 through 5 participated in a variety of activities about diversity and the life and ideas of Martin Luther King Junior.This is the second year the University of Maine Bodwell Center for Service and Volunteerism, the Office of Multicultural Programs and UMaine Athletics hosted the event.Organizers say it’s important for kids to learn about MLK.” Learning the values of Martin Luther King and also just to have a fun time since they do have the day off school just to come in and so that they learn and also have fun at the same time,” said Lauren Wagner, service coordinator with the Bodwell Center for Service and Volunteerism.Organization members say they hope to put on the event again next year.
