Bangor’s Biggest Baby Shower

It’s being called Bangor’s Biggest Baby Shower.Radio stations WHCF and Solution FM are behind it.As Meghan Hayward tells us, they’re collecting anything a baby would need.Any parent will tell you how expensive it can be to care for a baby.WHCF and Solution FM are trying to ease that stress. That’s why they’re holding Bangor’s Biggest Baby Shower.”We’re just asking that you bring out anything that you would take to a baby shower. Bottles, wipes and bibs. Anything you may take as a gift to a baby shower we’re asking you to donate so we can give those to the Pregnancy Resource Centers in Bangor, Houlton and St. Stephens.”Promotions Director Joe Polek says there’s a big need for something like this in the community.”There are moms who are finding themselves in crisis pregnancy situations who need the help. They don’t have money, they don’t have the resources and yet when they go into these pregnancy resource centers, they’re given the help they really need.”The Growing Place in Bangor is one of the locations where folks can drop things off.Owner Adrienne Chandler says while diapers are always a necessity, there are plenty of other things new moms can use.”Even some things for mom. If you’d like to give her a book of encouragement or maybe some bubble bath. Something that she can refuel herself.”Chandler says moms are always appreciative of any little thing.”You know when you are having a hard time and struggling it is so encouraging to know people, strangers care and want to help.”Polek says that’s what the baby shower event is all about.”I can just see the smile on the face knowing they have been taken care of.”The baby shower collection runs through January 31st.The Growing Place on Broadway and Hammond Street, along with the Pregnancy Resource Center on State Street are the drop-off locations in Bangor. For a list of other areas with collection sites, log on to
