Plans for Florida Lab Expansion Pulled Back 

Maine-based Jackson Laboratory has pulled back on plans to expand in Florida.The lab’s chief operating officer says they remain enthusiastic about the Florida project and plan to work with that state’s new governor on it.But for now Jackson Lab, which is based in Bar Harbor, has withdrawn its application for the expansion in Florida’s Collier County and has given no reason for that.Jackson Lab specializes in genetic research.It proposed building a huge facility in Florida where scientists would apply genetic research to human health problems.Florida lawmakers last year authorized 50-million dollars for the project. Jackson Lab hoped to get up to 200-million more from the state of Florida and Collier County.
