USM Switching to Natural Gas 

Maine’s second largest university is switching from oil to natural gas for heat. The University of Southern Maine says it will save more than 300-thousand dollars this year by converting the central heating plant on its Portland Campus to gas.USM was using an average of 280-thousand gallons of oil per year. The school’s Gorham campus had already been converted to natural gas. Besides saving money, school officials say they’ll significantly reduce carbon output too.
