Mainers Using Less Oil to Heat Their Homes 

Fewer Mainers are relying on oil to heat their homes than at any point in the past thirty years. New census figures show that in 2009 just over 71-percent of mainers used oil as their primary heat, down from 80-percent in 2000.More and more Maine residents are using wood to heat with. The steepest drop in the number of people using oil heat followed the 2008 spike in oil prices.
