Central Girls Hoops Still Unbeaten After 16-Point Win Over PVHS 

The Central High girls basketball team had a terrific regular season in their first year in Class C. The Red Riots were the second seed in the Eastern Maine tourney but lost in the second round to the eventual state champs from Calais. It’s a new year but a familiar squad for head coach Diane Rollins.Also looking to pick up where they left off, the Central cheerleaders. Finished second in states last year.The Red Riots hosting Penobscot Valley.It was 18-1 Central after the first quarter but PVHS fought back. Off the in bounds its Reese Leonard with the bucket. She had a team-high 11.Central’s defense looked good in the first half. Max McHugh with the steal. McHugh takes it down the floor for two. She had a game-high 18 points.Also helping out for Central, Hannah Pray. The senior with the shot that goes around and around and then finally in. PVHS didn’t quit even though they were down early but Central wins 48-32.
