(AP) – A Maine political consultant says he’sbehind an anonymous website that targeted former gubernatorialcandidate Eliot Cutler. One of the creators of the website isfacing a state ethics fine. Dennis Bailey owns a public relations firm in Portland. Herevealed his connection to the website, which was taken down lastmonth, on his website SavvySpin.com. The Portland Press Herald says Bailey wrote the website was”launched with all the best of intentions that sort ofbackfired.” Earlier this week Maine’s campaign ethics panel voted to seek a$200 fine from one of two authors of the website. It found theother committed no violation. It’s unclear if the panel is seeking the fine against Bailey orthe other still anonymous author.
