Ellsworth High School Counting Down Until Having Varsity Football

Ellsworth has approved football as a high school sport. The Eagles have two years of sub varsity football to play before becoming an official varsity team for the fall of 2013. Tim Throckmorton with more.Stephen Cowles – Ellsworth Freshman”I live in Lemoine and was gonna go to MDI but once Ellsworth got football I decided to come here to play.”Ellsworth hasn’t had Varsity football for more than 50 years. Stephen Cowles has been playing for 6 years. He’s now a high school freshman, and by the time he’s a senior, he’ll have certainly earned his one varsity season.”It will be nice to start from freshman end up being a senior, just playing through all these years maybe being a captain senior year hopefully starting quarterback would be nice.”The regional school district football team would also include students from Sumner high school. About 100 kids from Steuben to Otis played last fall in leagues that ranged from 3rd graders to high school kids.
