Lobster Trap Tree

The holiday season is filled with traditions, and a local community’s lobster trap christmas tree is no exception.Rockland put up it’s eighth annual tree made of lobster traps. The tree was built by volunteers with red and green traps.Non profit organization, Rockland Main Street, started the tradition.A few years ago, they began raffling off the traps at the end of the season. For fifty dollars, anyone who enters has a chance to win one-hundred of the new traps.”Fishermen often lose traps throughout the season. In fact, last year’s winter lost about one hundred traps in a storm, and it was for a fifty dollar raffle he was able to replenish those traps,” said the Organization’s President, Jeff Charland.Rockland Main Street says they have eighty tickets left. They will draw a winner on January 5th.
