Christmas Tree Sales on the Rise

Christmas tree lots are seeing green in their pockets. The national group, the American Christmas Tree Association predicts sales of trees to reach record numbers this season. Here in Newburgh, Jim Corliss with the Piper Mountain Tree Farm says this year tree sales are about average. Compared to last year, sales they have remained the same. However, a trend his lot is seeing is an increase in larger trees.”That has been a steady trend for 10 or 15 years but there’s a little more of a dramatic increase this year, a lot of people wanted 10, 12 or even 15 feet trees,” he said. The association says even in the uncertain economy, consumers are less likely to sacrifice the tradition of a Christmas tree.
