Sleeping Bags for the Homeless

The National Coalition for the Homeless says there are about 2,500 people in Maine that don’t have a place to live. With temperatures dropping and shelters filling up some people will be sleeping on the streets. In an effort to help, Green Street United Methodist Church is collecting sleeping bags to hand out to the homeless. Bread of Life Ministries will give the sleeping bags to homeless people when space is unavailable in its shelter.Sleeping bags can be delivered to the church office at 13 Green St. in Augusta between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you have bags to be picked up, call the church office at 622-0843.
