Accused Child Molester Behind Bars

A former Bangor restaurant owner, accused of molesting children, has been sentenced to eight years in prison.Jack Bailey accepted the plea deal in a Bangor courtroom today. He was convicted in 2008 of gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact. However, the State Supreme Court ruled that some of the evidence against him was obtained illegally.Bailey was allowed to plead guilty in an agreement that allows him to appeal. His attorney, David Walker, says he just accepted a similar plea agreement.”He entered what’s known as a conditional plea agreement, which means that he gets to preserve some legal issues that were raised at a suppression hearing and bring those issues back to the Maine Supreme Court, while still accepting a plea offer from the State of Maine.”Walker says an appeal is planned. He wants the court to determine exactly what evidence cannot be used against his client.
