Kids Help Others This Holiday Season

This time last week, the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree was still decorated with the wishes of several children, which left organizers worried that those kids might have to go without presents under the tree this year.Kids at Reeds Brook Middle School in Hampden heard about that and stepped in to help. They raised more than $900 this past week. They put collection jars all over campus and held fundraisers. The Student Council made a donation too.Thursday night, teacher Rob Burke visited the tree and picked out 40 angels.Friday afternoon, the students joined him on a shopping spree at Target. The kids were looking to fulfill all of the 40 gift wishes, but were only able to fill 39, not because they didn’t have the money but because they couldn’t find the exact gift one child asked for.
