Fire Destroys Apartments

A morning fire destroyed two apartments in Dexter. The blaze broke out at a house on St. Francis street around 9:00.When fire crews arrived the landlord was already outside. We’re told he is the only person living there, right now.He is being treated at Eastern Maine Medical for smoke inhalation.Dexter Fire Chief, Barry Deering, says weather conditions made the fire more difficult to put out. “It was a little tricky at first because it is cold, and you know we’re trying to keep lines going so they didn’t freeze up on us. And, you know, icy conditions on the ground, but nobody got hurt, so everything has gone well.”The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
