Native American Arts On Display at UMaine 

Traditional Native American arts were the focus of a special sale and demonstration at the University of Maine Saturday.The 2010 Maine Indian Basketmakers sale and demonstration took place at the Collins Center for the Arts at the UMaine campus.In addition to baskets, basketmakers also sold hand made products such as quill jewelry and wood carvings.Guests walked around the center enjoying traditional music and got to see demonstrations of ash pounding, basketmaking and birch bark work.”A lot of times people are practicing they are in their homes, this is a big celebration of culture a lot of people aren’t exposed to,” said event organizer Theresa Secord.The annual sale was put together by the Hudson Museum.
