EMMC Gingerbread Village

A Gingerbread village is coming alive at Eastern Maine Medical Center. The snowy scene is being pieced together one tasty treat after the next. It’s a seasonal tradition that has been taking place in EMMC’s kitchen for over ten years now, and each year it gets bigger. It takes about fifty to sixty hours to complete one of the buildings, and each building is made with many different candies and sweet ingredients. The process has only just begun, still to come is the landscaping, including rice crispy pine trees, and the placement of small figurines of children and animals. One of the gingerbread makers says it gives her a chance to be creative, and she likes to see everybody enjoying her edible pieces of work.”Kids really get a big kick out of it- employees and visitors bring their kids and grandchildren to see it.”The village of treats will be on display in the cafeteria for patients, visitors and staff to see.
