Interstate Weight Limit Project Expires

A one-year pilot project that let trucks weighing more than 80-thousand pounds use the Interstate north of Augusta expires next week…..Congress passed a funding bill last night that does not include an extension.Senator Susan Collins was a driving force behind the program. She says it let Maine businesses cut down on shipping costs while improving highway safety and saving fuel. When the project ends, heavier trucks will be forced to return to secondary roads, leading through many communities.
