Early Morning Fire Injures Home Owner 

At 12:39 Wednesday morning, crews were called to a home on Leonard Street in Pittsfield for reports of a home on fire.When they arrived, flames were showing from the second story windows, as well as the front porch.Officials tell TV5 that the homeowner and his daughter were in the home when the fire broke out. She escaped the flames uninjured, though her father was burned, and has been taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor to receive treatment. There has been no word yet on the extent of those injuries.Crews from Newport and Detroit assisted Pittsfield in battling the blaze, which was inaccessible from the interior of the building, forcing crews to mount an exterior staircase to the second floor located at the rear of the home.They managed to get the flames under control, but were still on the scene into the dawn hours Wednesday, mopping up hot spots in the structure.The Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to investigate.
