A new report recommends that Waterville should build a new police station. The report was drafted by a committee created by city council this summer. The panel looked at whether the department, which now operates out of the city hall basement, should be moved to the fire department or another building. They also considered expanding the current space or building a whole new facility. The 18-page report concludes that Waterville would be best served by a new station.Governor-elect Paul Lepage is Waterville’s mayor still. He’s against building a new station. Lepage says police should move into the new fire station.City councilors are expected to make a decision this spring.
