Tonight, students at the University of Maine kicked off their third annual, “There’s Snow Place Like Home” event. They will spend the next two nights sleeping in a tent to raise money for Bangor’s Habitat for Humanity. The organization builds houses for underprivileged families. They are grateful for all the student support. “The students are doing such a wonderful thing and we’re so appreciative of all their efforts and I know it’s not easy for a lot of people to campout on the first of December.”Cold temperatures didn’t affect anyone’s spirits, though. All the donations they collect will go towards Habitat’s next house. If you’d like to help, they will be out on UMaine’s campus mall until Friday. You can also email Habitat’s campus president at Amanda.Missud@umit.maine.edu.
