Rockland Man Pleads Guilty to Animal Abuse

Four felony charges against a Rockland man accused of mistreating several horses in Waldoboro have been dropped and he has pleaded guilty to five misdemeanor counts of animal abuse.51-year-old Donald Genthner might only be sentenced on one of those counts.According to his attorney, as long as Genthner does not get into any criminal trouble in the next two years, four of the five guilty pleas will be withdrawn and he will face a $500 fine. In addition, Genthner is banned for life from owning hoofed animals, and can only work with hoofed animals under supervision.Genthner was arrested last January after police say they found several dead and mistreated horses on a farm in Waldoboro.
