Verona Island Man Pleads Guilty To Drug & Gun Charges 

A Verona Island man waits to be sentenced after pleading guilty to gun and drug charges.The U.S. Attorney’s office says 25-year-old Timothy Varnum pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute OxyContin and carrying a firearm during a drug crime.Varnum was arrested at the Airport Mall in January where he tried to sell the pills to a witness working for the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.The U.S. Attorney says Varnum’s drug supplier, 30-year-old Charles Miles of Georgia, was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to selling drugs in Maine. Miles admitted to selling around 50 Oxycodone pills per day in Maine starting back in 2009.
