Union Nurses & EMMC Officials Resume Talks 

Union nurses and hospital administrators from Eastern Maine Medical Center were back at the bargaining table today, but still no agreement on a new contract.The two sides were joined by a federal mediator and a representative from Governor Baldacci’s office.Judy Brown, President of the nurses union at EMMC, says the two sides met several times today and she says the tone of the meetings improved. Both sides say they’re hopeful an agreement will eventually be reached.Contract negotiations came to a halt nearly three weeks ago, when the nurses and hospital officials couldn’t come to an agreement on several key points.A week ago today, nurses held a one-day strike outside the hospital, that followed a two day lockout by hospital administrators.The two sides head back to the bargaining table december 8th.
