Timber Harvest Down in ’09 

Timber harvesting last year was much lower than it has been in previous years in this state according to the Maine Forest Service.In a recently released report they say the number of acres cut was down 15% from last year.Clear cuts increased though by more than 4,800, but that is still less than 4% of the total harvested acres.Another report said the stumpage price paid to landowners is on a downward trend as well.
