The Fitzpatrick Award Committee has selected mostly Western Maine players for the states top high school football honor. Only three of the 12 semifinalists are from the east, and one of them is Max Cloutier of Leavitt, down neat Auburn.The Eastern Maine players on the ballet are Jon Haws of Hampden Academy. The quarterback has thrown for over 1,000 yards the last two seasons. Waterville quarterback Kyle Bishop is the other player from this part of the state. The others are from the South, including Cheverus quarterback Peter Gwilym. Others that just played in the state title games are Cam Kaubris of Mountain Valley and Nick Proscia from Yarmouth. Bangor has two players with Division 1 scholarship offers, but they aren’t on the list. Three finalists will be announced next month.
