A Fairfield man claims he was shot over the weekend and he doesn’t know why.Police say 20-year old Erik Powers suffered a gunshot “flesh wound” to the shoulder Saturday night. Powers told police he had been walking on Gilbreth Street when a small white car pulled up beside him. Powers reported that there were two black men wearing black hats and bandanas in that car and they asked what his name was.Police say Powers said he was then shot by someone in the car. No arrests have been made, but police say the investigation is ongoing. Recently, Powers was charged in connection with the burglary of a Damon’s Beverage Mart, which was just a short distance away from the alleged shooting.Police say Powers threw a rock through the window of the store earlier this month.Anyone with information on the shooting can contact the Fairfield Police Department at 453-9321.
