A couple of guys named Mike are looking past the Thanksgiving holiday to make sure Mainers in need have food to eat all winter long. Mike Dow and Mike Elliot from KISS 94.5 radio will be camping out, again, in the parking lot of Bangor Mall, beginning early Monday morning. They’ll be there with a big empty truck and the goal of filling it up by Wednesday evening. Everything they collect goes to Manna Ministries, which will pass it out to area families. Last year the community donated 39 tons of food to the Mikes. That kept the Manna food pantry stocked well into April. Mike Dow says “There are so many people struggling right now that it seems like those who can give are fully aware of that and they do, they come every year. It’s an overwhelming display of generosity and it knocks us out every year and we can’t wait to get started.”Mike and Mike will start the food drive at 5 a.m. Monday You’ll find them in the parking lot behind the mall, between Dick’s Sporting Goods and JCPenney’s. They’re looking for all kinds of non-perishable foods, as well as baby supplies. The campout ends at 6 p.m Wednesday.
