Free the Z Surpasses Goal 

A local radio station event to collect hundreds of turkeys in time for Thanksgiving is now over, but organizers say they more than met their goal this year.Radio personality “the Kid”, from Z107.3, has been camping in the parking lot at the Brewer Hannaford all week, collecting turkeys for families in need this holiday.Thursday, he was joined by some members of the Army ROTC from the University of Maine who gave away T-shirts and other stuff to folks who turned in donations.Kid says the weather wasn’t great this week, but it didn’t stop them from from surpassing their goal of 2,010 turkeys.At last check, they’d collected over 2,400 turkeys since Tuesday morning.They all go to Manna Ministries in Bangor, which will pass them out to area families.Manna still needs hundreds more turkeys reach their goal this year. You can help Friday night during our annual Turkey Telethon.We’ll be collecting donations to buy those birds during our 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. newscasts.
