Employees Rally Over Unfair Wages

There was a protest in Bangor today over unfair work conditions. The food and medicine organization rallied in front of Bangor’s Federal Building to raise awareness about what they say is employee wage theft. They say too many workers are illegally unpaid or under-paid every year.Their cause resonated with a local custodian whose employer misclassified him as an independent contractor. Willie Wilcox claims his company saved on taxes but, he says, pointing that out cost him his job.Wilcox was awarded over four-thousand dollars to cover some of what his employer owed him.Food and medicine hope they inspire other employees to speak out against any mistreatment in the work place.
