Home Invasion Lead to Home Fire in Washington 

State Police are investigating what officials are calling suspicious circumstances following a fire in the Knox County town of Washington.Officials say the fire broke out in a home on Bill Luce Road shortly before 10 o’clock Thursday night.Now it appears there was a home invasion leading up to that fire.The Maine State Police says that a woman who lives there called police around 9:45 after a man came into her home.The it said the man showed a weapon but didn’t use it, and there was a brief confrontation between the two.It was at that point the woman realized her house was on fire.The man ran off when the smoke alarms started going off.The woman’s three children were asleep at the time of the confrontation. She did get them all awake and out of the house safely.Troopers brought in a K9 unit to track the suspect, but have not had any luck at this hour.This investigation is continuing, and the Fire Marshal’s office is also investigating.We’ll have more information for you as it becomes available.
