Concerts will be back on the Bangor waterfront next summer. The city council unanimously approved a new contract Monday night with the promoter of the Waterfront Concert series. This past summer, Alex Gray, with the backing of the company Live Nation, brought half-a-dozen big name musical acts to Bangor – from Alan Jackson to Godsmack.Gray told city councilors he hopes to double the number of concerts next summer. City councilor Cary Weston says under the contract, the city will get $1 for every ticket sold for the concerts. Blackout dates were established to avoid conflict with existing events, like the American Folk Festival and the KahBang Festival. Grey also agreed to take down fencing in between concerts, based on concerns it detracted from the view.
