Food Stamp Forgery Suspect Appears in Court 

A Winslow woman accused of defrauding the state by claiming she was pregnant for 40 months made a court appearance this morning.34-year old Leah Wright pleaded not guilty to one count of theft by deception and eight counts of aggravated forgery.Wright was released on supervised bail conditions.The Attorney General’s Office says Wright allegedly forged state documents in order to obtain food stamps. We’re told Wright obtained around $4,000 in food stamp benefits.Wright’s next court appearance is scheduled for January.
