Maine State Police Look to Boost Their Numbers 

It looks as if the State Troopers will be putting out the help wanted sign.The Maine State Police force currently has 27 openings, and that number could increase soon.State Police Chief Colonel Patrick Fleming says another 40 troopers are expected to retire in the next year.Recruiting efforts have been under way, but it still leaves a shortage during the time it takes to train a trooper.The state police force is authorized have 326 officers. Right now, their numbers are down to 299.Colonel fleming says there’s no need for alarm. The force has taken steps, including overtime, to make sure there are enough troopers on patrol.
