Lifelong Ripley Resident Turns 105 

A lifelong resident of Ripley celebrated a milestone birthday Friday.Adelma Sevey turned 105 years old.At the young age of 105, Adelma says she has a lot to be thankful for. When we asked her if she could believe she was turning 105, she said no.Adelma has lived in the town of Ripley all her life. Growing up in a big family, she’s one of 10 children.A former school teacher, Adelma married her husband, Andrew, in 1927. They were married for 70 years, raising three children.Her son, Ernest, lives across the street and tells us despite the years, Adelma has never lost her apetitie for life.”She’s up every day. She has three meals regularly. She goes out with the girls. They take her out of course,” he said.Adelma still finds time to enjoy life. She likes to sew and one day during a family gathering, she made time for some four wheeling.Ernest says her love of life is what keeps her going.”She’s always had good health, she’s always been a very active person, very little times has she been sick.”On this milestone birthday, Adelma received dozens of cards from family, neighbors, former students and even strangers.All of them wishing her well on her big birthday and cheering her on to the next 105 years.
