Bangor Boy’s Soccer Score in Double Overtime to Reach State Finals 

The 8 Eastern Maine Regional finals held all over Maine today. In Class A, both the boys and girls finals were played between Brunswick and Bangor.The boys game under the lights from Bangor High. It’s a rematch of last year’s regional final which Brunswick won in double OT.Second half, scoreless until Rodrigo Cepeda sends in a nifty shot under the goalies arms. The Dragons go up one-zip.The Rams did not stop fighting. With just over six minutes to play, off the long throw-in from Adam King, it’s Seth Freudenberger with the header into the top shelf. Bangor ties the game up. We’re going to overtime. Where have we seen this before?In the first OT, Bangor controlling play, nearly get their game winner but Seth Holmblad comes off the line. Keeps it tied at one.Minutes into the second overtime. Luke Hettermann, sends Bangor to the state championship. The Rams win a great back and forth game. 2-1 in double overtime. Hettermann was on the field last year when Bangor lost in double OT. Now the Rams are one win away from Bangor’s first state title since 2006.
