Summer Tourism Increase 

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) – Maine officials say summer tourism was upsignificantly over last year. Data collected by Davidson-Peterson Associates, a travel andtourism research firm in Kennebunk that represents the Office ofTourism, says an estimated 13.7 million day travelers and anadditional estimated 9.5 million overnight travelers visited Maineduring the summer of 2010. That marks an increase in day visitation of 8 percent over thesummer of 2009, with overnight visitation up 14 percent over a yearago.
