Nuns’ Assailant to Move to Maine Group Home 

(AP) – A man who was committed to Maine’spsychiatric hospital after killing two nuns and hurting two othersin 1996, is moving from the hospital to a nearby group home. Mark Bechard didn’t address the judge Friday during his hearingin Kennebec County Superior Court. He was found not criminallyresponsible for the attack and was committed to state custody. Hehas been on antipsychotic medication. The Morning Sentinel reports Bechard wants to continue hispart-time janitorial job at Riverview Psychiatric Center. He willwalk to his work and to other group housing on the same campus. Sister Josephine Roney of the Servants of the Blessed Sacramentsaid the psychological impact of the attack still exists. She saidshe wanted to emphasize the need for medication for those withmental illness.
