Walk to End Hunger Kicks Off in Old Town 

Maine Credit Unions Ending Hunger Walking Tour kicked off this afternoon with a celebration in Old Town.The Penobscot County Federal Credit Union presented Brenda Davis with a check for $900 to help end hunger during her trek.Davis will walk 700 miles and visit 72 communities from Kittery to Madawaska to raise awareness.Along the way she’ll visit 79 credit unions and pick up contributions for her cause.We’re told Maine has one of the highest hunger rates in the nation.”It’s a basic necessity as breathing and drinking we need to correct that, that people have to go without,” Davis said.The Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger has raised more than $3.5 million dollars in the past twenty years.
