I-95 Accident Sends Man To Hospital

An accident on I-95 in Orono sent one man to the hospital, but police say it could have been much worse. The accident happened around 4:00 Thursday afternoon. State Police say a man was driving south on I-95 near exit 193 when he became incapacitated and lost control of the vehicle. The car crossed the median and rolled over into the northbound lane, coming to a stop in the travel lane. The driver of the car was able to free himself from the vehicle and was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center with cuts on his face but authorities say he’s lucky to be alive. “Very lucky. He’s lucky that other motorists traveling northbound were able to escape a collision with him,” said Maine State Trooper Kyle Wilette. “He was wearing his seat belt and airbags did deploy which may have contributed to his survivability.”
