Maine Hockey Completes Weekend Sweep of North Dakota

Last night, the Maine Men’s hockey team recorded their most impressive win of the young season, a 7-3 victory over the 2nd ranked North Dakota Fighting Sioux. Tonight, Maine going for a weekend sweep over North Dakota.In a game you could see on TV5, a packed Alfond Arena. This one had the feel of those games from back in the day. Tim Whitehead going with freshman goalie Dan Sullivan tonight instead of Shawn Sirman who got the win last night.No score through the first period, Spencer Abbott with the shot, goes off the post. A power play goal. We’re tied up.About two minutes later, Joey Diamond takes it from behind the net, forces his way in, gets the goal. His fourth of the year. Maine up 2-1 after two.Less than a minute in to the third period, Jeff Dimmen to Brian Flynn. He snipes in a goal. His fourth of the year. Maine up 3-1.Later on in the third, Maine on the power play again. Will O’Neill to Spencer Abbott. Abbott gets his goal, and what a goal. His fifth of the season. Maine up 4-1.Dan Sullivan terrific in net tonight. 23 saves for the freshman. The Alfond rocking tonight. Maine sweeps North Dakota. The Black Bears win 4-2.
