Critical Insights Poll Shows LePage on top, Cutler gaining ground 

The latest poll by Critical Insights shows Republican Paul LePage strengthening his lead and independent Eliot Cutler gaining ground in the governor’s race.The poll shows 32 percent for LePage, 20 percent for Democrat Libby Mitchell and 19 percent for Cutler.Five percent of respondents said they would vote for independent Shawn Moody in the governor’s race and 1 percent said they would vote for independent Kevin Scott.Twenty-one percent remain undecided.That question has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.Meanwhile, the latest numbers from the same poll for Maine’s 2nd Congressional District, show Democratic representative Michael Michaud maintaining a lead over Republican Jason Levesque, 49 percent to 30 percent.The margin of error is 5.7 percentage points.And the Critical Insights poll showed a tightening of the 1st District Congressional race.Chellie Pingree supporters totaled 45 percent while Dean Scontras supporters totaled 40 percent, with 13 percent of the respondents were undecided.The margin of error on that question is 5.7 percentage points, which makes the race statistically even, according to the poll.
