Candidate Websites Investigated 

Maine’s campaign oversight commission has voted to further investigate a website that targets independent gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler.Cutler’s campaign asked the Maine Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices to investigate the website, whose creator has remained anonymous. It contends the website, called The Cutler Files, contains defamatory and false statements. The commission voted Wednesday to continue investigating behind closed doors.Also on Wednesday, the commission found no reason to investigate a Democratic complaint against Republican gubernatorial candidate Paul LePage over his use of a company car on the campaign trail.It also turned back a Republican complaint about TV ads by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Libby Mitchell, which features members of her family who are also running for office.
