Camp Capella in Dedham launched the groundbreaking for the Memories for a Lifetime Garden Wednesday. As Meghan Hayward tells us, this garden will leave a lasting impression on many. It’s called the Memories for a Lifetime Garden.”Well the garden is really all about memories. For 45 years this place has been here and has touched the lives of thousands of people. This is an opportunity for people to leave their legacy here at Camp Capella and build this camp’s future.”This groundbreaking at Camp Capella in Dedham launched an effort to raise endowment funds that will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Doris Buffet’s The Sunshine Lady Foundation. They will match up to $55,500.”They’re going to stay right here at the camp. These funds are going to be dedicated for capital improvements. Improvement of the property. Hopefully sometime in the future we may be able to put some of these monies in endowment funds to help send kids to camp.”The folks at Greenworks of Bangor are donating their time and services to the garden.”Again it goes beyond just buying bricks. This is a community effort, a community project. All these people are here to help, help continue to build the camp.”Executive Director of Camp Capella, Dana Mosher is excited for the garden to be complete so folks can see it.”I think for many it’s going to be an emotionally moving experience because you’re going to walk out on this deck and you’re going to see the names of so many children that have come here. There are so many families that have been touched by this place.”Mosher says there is still plenty of room for more bricks to be bought.”We have $100 bricks that will go in the walkway, $250 bricks will go in the patio and $500 bricks which is a considerably larger brick and will go on the border.”Folks interested in purchasing a brick can call the camp at 843-5104 or go on their website www.campcapella.org.
