Coast to Coast Run Honors Fallen Troops

An army veteran who pounded the pavement from coast to coast to honor our nation’s fallen troops finished his grueling run Friday in the wind and rain in Rockland.Mike Ehredt, 49, of Hope, Idaho, began his trip last spring at the Pacific Ocean in Oregon. He placed a U.S. flag in the ground every mile along the way to honor troops killed in Iraq. Friday, he put six flags in place, with the final flag in Rockland. It’s in memory of major Jay Aubin, a marine pilot from Waterville who died when his helicopter crashed near the Iraq border.Ehredt began his journey in May and averaged about 29-miles per day, racking up more than 4,400 miles along the way.
